THE BRIEF:
Kalmane Koffee has a rich heritage of cultivating coffee for the last 135 years by 4 generations in their own Estates spread across 1500 acres amidst three hills in Chickmagalur in Karnataka India. The brand was founded to promote fine export quality coffees in domestic market with a service format of serving Coffee in the traditional Indian way in a modern ambience. This needed to be translated into the experience within the outlet as well.
THE CONCEPT:
The store persona was created for the brand in a global contemporary take of traditional Kalmane roots. The presentation emphasised on its key differentiator, heritage of 135 years, curated for the new age leisure seeker. The store design elements and the palette were inspired from the traditional colonial tea estate elements like the red oxide flooring, wooden stencilled crates, visual of the tea estate, colonial madras checks etc. The cash counter was designed to present the roasted range of its beans to touch, feel and smell. The store seating was created as an ‘indoor lounge’ and an ‘outdoor seating’ area to give a feeling of space. A youthful color palette was used to be relevant to today’s consumers.
