“STORYTELLING IN RETAIL DESIGN IS THE ART OF CONNECTING CONTEXT, PLOT AND STRUCTURE TO CREATE A UNIQUE SPATIAL EXPERIENCE FOR A BRAND”
– by Surender Gnanaolivu
Adapting to the ‘CONTEXT, the place, people, and products is essential to start the storytelling. The ‘PLOT’ is the brand story that needs to be translated by design into tangible forms, a brand signature palette, and consumer engagement elements. Finally, the ‘STRUCTURE’ is the way in which all the physical components of the story are organized spatially to make the experience meaningful and memorable. Urban by Blackberrys is a brand story inspired by ‘New York street vibes’ built around the lifestyle of the brand’s core customer by using strong visual storytelling cues rendered in the store environment.
